PREVENTING CAVITIES IN CHILDREN…HOW???

As mentioned in last blog, cavities occur when tooth surface is attacked by the acids produced by oral bacteria. Bacteria in dental plaque produce these acids by fermentation of sugar containing foods within minutes of their consumption.

So, how can we prevent this process of cavity formation?

So no chocolates and biscuits for children???
You may wonder how can we not give kids chocolates, biscuits and all their favorite sweets? Remember it’s the habit of snacking them frequently that is harmful for teeth. Once in while is ok, like…one chocolate on a Sunday! (and gargling with water after that is must!). Some children keep snacking chocolates, biscuits, cakes etc. continuously after every few minutes. This not only is a bad habit for teeth, but also hampers the overall nutrition as it reduces the food intake at the meal times. So, switching to more nutritious stuff like fruits, nuts and salads at a regular interval during the day definitely makes a healthy habit, both for general as well as dental health.

Toothbrushing at night before going to bed is most important because…

CAVITY FORMATION IS ACCELERATED AT NIGHT!!!... HOW???

SO, BRUSH YOUR CHILD’S TEETH AT NIGHT WITHOUT FAIL AND THEY WILL STAY AWAY FROM CAVITIES!!!
